TOPIC 14: OTHER GASES AND CATEGORIES

Many other fossil fuel combustion categories will, generally, not receive as thorough review as CO2 emissions. However, you should still select at least one or two additional categories for a detailed review on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Categories that were also identified as key (e.g., N2O from Road Transportation), including categories a Party has identified as key for qualitative reasons
  • Categories that have not been thoroughly reviewed in previous years
  • Categories for which potential problems have been identified
  • Categories for which the Party has used notation keys for a large number of its sub-categories

In addition, the following questions should be considered in your review of non-CO2 categories:

  • Has the Party properly estimated N2O and CH4 emissions from the combustion of biomass in all categories (e.g., Energy Industries, Manufacturing Industries and Construction, and Road Transportation)?
  • Do the methodologies and emission factors used by the Party reflect the variety of fuel types, combustion technologies, and emission controls used in the country for stationary combustion?
  • Do the methodologies and emission factors used by the Party reflect the variety of fuel types, driving practices, vehicle types, emission controls, fleet age distribution, climate, and maintenance practices in the country for mobile combustion?
