2. Reviewing Other Analysis Documents

After examining the Status Report, during a real review you should also examine other analysis documents provided by the UNFCCC Secretariat, including:

  • Synthesis and Assessment (S&A) report (both Parts I and II)
  • Previous review reports for the Party
For this case study, though, we will skip examining these other analysis documents, although you may wish to look at Part I of the S&A Report, which is included in the review materials you have downloaded. Part I of the S&A Report provides, amongst other information, a useful summary and comparison of Energy Sector fuel combustion emissions data across Parties, including key category determination by the UNFCCC Secretariat, differences in CO2 emissions from fuel combustion as determined by the Reference and Sectoral (or national) approaches and explanations for these differences, energy activity levels (including differences between values reported by each Party and corresponding values reported by IEA), applied methodologies and emission factors, and implied emission factors. These tables may be used to easily check if fuel combustion emissions from stationary sources and transport (e.g., road transportation, domestic aviation and marine transport) are key categories for Ukraine, as well as what methodological tier(s), and types of emission factors it, and other Parties, reported using.
