Lead Reviewers

Two members of your expert review team will be selected as lead reviewers by the UNFCCC Secretariat. These lead reviewers will be inventory experts with substantial inventory review experience. One lead reviewer will be from a non-Annex I Party and one from an Annex I Party.

The lead reviewers’ responsibilities include:

  • Prepare a brief work plan for the review activity and prioritize your team’s work.
  • Verify that the experts have all the necessary information provided by the UNFCCC Secretariat prior to the review activity.
  • Monitor the progress of the review activity, including the preparation of the review report.
  • Ensure that there is good communication within the expert review team (before, during and after the review week).
  • Coordinate queries of the expert review team to the Party and coordinate the inclusion of the answers in the review reports, including any communication between the ERT and the Party.
  • Provide technical advice to the team members and to ad hoc experts, if needed.
  • Ensure that the review is performed and the review report is prepared in accordance with the UNFCCC Review Guidelines.
  • Verify that the review team gives priority to individual  categories for review in accordance with these guidelines.
  • Help coordinate communication between members of your team (especially for the Desk review approach).

As a new expert on an inventory review team, your lead reviewers will be a valuable resource to help answer your questions. You should make an extra effort to contact your lead reviewers before the review officially begins.
