In Part I of the status report, you may notice that for PFCs there is no indication what emissions are reported (actual or potential). You may want to look into this area more closely to find out the reason for this.

In Part II of the status report, you can see a detailed listing of the tables submitted. It is also important to review the comments in this part. Although a Party may submit a CRF table, it can still be significantly incomplete due to many cells being left blank and the inadequate use of notation keys (every cell should have a notation key or other data). You should note that the column labels “Information gaps related to reporting*” is checked for some of the Tables, indicating that even though the Table was submitted, multiple cells in it were not completed.

In Part III of the status report, you may notice that although recalculations for Solvents and Other Products Use have been reported, no explanations have been provided in the corresponding table. Although, in general, this sector is not expected to be a key category, it may be worth spending some time to investigate the reason behind these recalculations.

Overall, you should now see the type of information you can gain from a quick review of a Party’s Initial Check Status Report. It is a useful first step to getting an overview of the completeness of a Party’s submission as you begin your review work.
