Level 1: Sectoral Background Data Tables

The majority of the data in the CRF is contained in the first level, which consists of the Sectoral background data tables. These background data tables require detailed information on emissions, activity data, and other relevant information at a category and sub-category level. Many of the summary tables at higher levels are filled in automatically by the CRF software based on the data in these first level background data tables.

All of the information in these tables (less two exceptions) must be entered by the Party, as they serve as the foundation for data used by many other CRF tables. The exception to the previous rule is the Sectoral Background Data Tables, which also include cells in which emissions are summed and “implied emission factors” or “implied carbon-stock-change factors” are calculated.
