TOPIC 9: N2O EMISSIONS FROM ANIMAL PRODUCTION

In addition to the checks listed in this module under N2O from manure management and direct N2O from agricultural soils, you should also check the following during the review of a Party’s submission on N2O emissions from animal production:
  • Whether the Party has properly distinguished the amount of nitrogen in manure and urine produced from grazing animals from that handled in other management systems, and there is no double counting or omissions with the nitrogen going to the management systems and other uses;
  • Whether the Party has collected and well documented information on nitrogen excretion in dung and urine for each animal species in a transparent manner;
  • Whether the Party has used country-specific factors.
