EXERCISE 4: INTERNAL DATA CONSISTENCY

3. The collection of high quality activity data is essential if accurate estimates are to be produced. One of the most important sets of data for the Agriculture Sector is a Party’s livestock population. One way to investigate the quality of a Party’s livestock population data is to compare the data in its inventory submission with data from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) - data available online (http://www.fao.org). The following questions require that you use Table 4.2 in Part I of the Synthesis and Assessment Report, which provides comparisons for cattle, sheep, and swine.

a. Which Parties reported livestock population data in their inventory submission that differed from FAO data?

  1. All six Parties
  2. Austria, Greece, Luxemburg, New Zealand, and Ukraine
  3. Greece, Luxemburg, and Slovakia
  4. New Zealand, Slovakia, and Ukraine
  5. None of the Parties

b. For which species did one or more Parties report livestock population data that differ from the FAO data?

  1. All three animal species
  2. Swine and cattle
  3. Sheep and swine
  4. Swine
  5. Sheep
  6. None of the above
