5.5. Sectoral background data for energy (Table 1.C – sheet 1) – International bunkers and multilateral operations

Table 1.C

This table provides information on fuel quantities used for International Bunkers and Multilateral Operations pursuant to the Charter of the United Nations. This information includes activity data (TJ), implied emission factors for CO2, CH4, and N2O (t/TJ), and emissions of CO2, CH4, and N2O (Gg).

Parties can report activity data and implied emission factors related to Multilateral Operations if permitted by their rules of confidentiality. Total emissions for these activities, however, should be reported under the Memo items section of the Summary tables and in the Sectoral report table for the Energy sector.

Some additional information is also provided by this table, including the split of fuel consumption between international and domestic emissions from aviation and marine activities.

Parties are also asked to provide, in the documentation box, a brief explanation on how the consumption of international marine and aviation bunker fuels was estimated and separated from domestic consumption, and refer to the section in their NIR where a more detailed explanation is provided.
