TOPIC 15: AREAS FOR FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS

In addition to discussing problems and potential problems with a Party’s inventory, you should also address in your review report the issue of current and future improvements in the inventory.

Current improvements include things the Party has done since its last submission to enhance the quality of its reporting (e.g., used higher tier methods, improved transparency, implemented QA/QC plan). These improvements should be praised in your review report, assuming that you deem the Party to have made real substantive improvements in its inventory.

Future improvement can take two forms:

  • Improvements the Party has reported that are on-going or planned (e.g., planning to collect more detailed data or developing estimates for new category)
  • Improvements that your review team has recommended the Party implement for future inventories, including changes to the inventory to better reflect the Party’s national circumstances (e.g., using more representative emission factors)
