 II. SAMPLE

Writing a good review report is important, as the reports you prepare for each Party are ultimately the product of your entire team’s hard work. You have been given some guidance on the type of information you should include in a report and the type of language you should use. The following pages will now provide you with some examples of how to write a report using a fictitious sample review report as an example.

OF THE “FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF CARBONIA” SUBMITTED IN THE YEAR 20021
(Centralized Review)

OVERVIEW

          1. The Conference of the Parties (COP) has requested that the Secretariat to conduct individual reviews of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties), according to the UNFCCC guidelines for the technical review of GHG inventories from Parties included in Annex I to the Convention, in accordance with decision 19/CP.8.

           2. In response to the mandate by the COP, the Secretariat coordinated a centralized review of eight national GHG inventories (Blahland, Slimconia, South Tejeda, United States of Asia, Europia, New Carbury, Kerla, and the Federal Republic of Carbonia) submitted in 2002, which took place from 7 to 11 September 2004. The review was carried out by a team of nominated experts from the roster of experts working at the headquarters of the UNFCCC Secretariat in Bonn, Germany.

          3. The members of the expert review team were: generalist – Ms. Jane Smith (USA) and Mr. Sanjay Patel (India); energy – Mr. Jean Jaques (France) and Ms. Maria de Silva (Portugal); industrial processes – Mr. Carlos Gomes (Brazil) and Mr. Hans Rhode (Germany); agriculture – Mr. Hua Chong (China) and Mr. Kofe Atoka (Ghana); LULUCF – Mr. Samuel Okyere (Botswana) and Mr. Martin Johnson (United Kingdom); and waste – Mr. Khadem Yusuf (Bangladesh) and Ms. Nurina Widagdo (Indonesia).[Include the sectors for the reviewers].
