SECTOR:
WASTE
General overview
54. The largest emission category in the waste sector
was CH4 from solid waste disposal on land
(86.2 per cent of waste sector emissions in 2002).
.
55. Key categories: solid waste disposal on land
Country-specific methodologies were used.
This paragraph provides little useful information regarding
the quality of the inventory submission. It should address
whether the country-specific methods were consistent
with the IPCC Good Practice Guidance and whether the
review team judged the estimates to be complete.
56. Non-key categories: wastewater handling
The activity data were indicated as NE. The estimate
from industrial wastewater handling was omitted.
Why were the activity data reported as “not estimated”?
Did the Party explain why it did not include an estimate?
57. Key categories: solid waste disposal on land. The
waste generation rate is within normal limits: 0.8 kg/capita/day.
In order to assess comparability, the expert review
team used the reported data and applied Tier 1 of the
IPCC Good Practice Guidance to calculate methane emissions
from solid waste disposal using an assumed average DOC
equal to 0.3. The result was approximately about 2 times
greater than the result of the country-specific model.
Does the expert review team believe that this difference
is explained by the Party’s national circumstances?
Is it an important problem? The review report should
identify problems and recommend changes a Party should
make to improve its inventory. |
