The next tables of the SEF provide a summary of internal registry transactions – those transactions that did not involve transfers to or acquisitions from another registry - during the previous calendar year. Click here to see the SEF instructions for these tables. Table 2(a) provides information on issuance and cancellation of units. Transactions that result in additions to assigned amount are reported under ‘Additions”. These are issuance of ERUs for JI projects and issuance of RMUs for removals from LULUCF activities.
Transactions that would result in subtractions from the assigned amount are reported under ‘Subtractions’. These are in particular the cancellation of AAUs, ERUs, RMUs or CERs for emissions from LULUCF activities; cancellation of units to replace tCERs and lCERs, and Other (voluntary) cancellation.
Article 6 issuance and conversion represents a special case, since this “issuance” occurs by converting AAUs (for emission reduction JI projects) and by converting RMUs (for LULUCF JI projects). Such transactions simultaneously involve the addition of an ERU (addition) and a subtraction of an AAU or RMU.
A separate box is provided for reporting of units which are retired by the Party for compliance purposes. The retirement of units is reported separately because retirement does not result in an addition or subtraction to the assigned amount. Instead, retirement merely sets aside units to be used towards the Party’s Article 3, paragraph 1, commitment at the end of the commitment period.
