TOPIC 3: HIGHLIGHTS FROM IPCC GOOD PRACTICE GUIDANCE

B. Livestock characterizations
A single livestock characterization is critical to the estimation of greenhouse gas emissions from the Agriculture Sector, especially since information on livestock is needed to estimate the feed intake and quantity of manure produced, that are used in estimates of:

  • CH4 emissions from enteric fermentation;
  • CH4 and N2O emissions from manure management;
  • N2O emissions from agricultural soils (direct, indirect, and animal production).
