TOPIC 3: HIGHLIGHTS FROM IPCC GOOD PRACTICE GUIDANCE

a. Basic characterization
For a basic livestock characterization the following information is necessary:

  • A list of livestock species and categories
  • Annual population data for each species and category, including adjustments for seasonal variations
  • Average annual milk production for dairy cows
  • If relevant, the percentage of animals in each of the climate regions defined in the Revised 1996 IPCC Guidelines[2]
