More specific recommendations from the IPCC Good Practice Guidance are dependent on whether a particular animal species is deemed to be “significant” to the category and whether the category is key.  According to the GPG sub-categories that account for at least 25-30 per cent of a category are likely to be “significant”.

Another one of your first steps in reviewing a Party’s Agriculture Sector submission will be to determine whether a single livestock characterization was used for all relevant categories. The characterization should be at the level of each livestock animal species.
